Describe the product context

Design prompts improve when they name the product, user, device, task, and constraints. Replace generic requests such as ‘make a dashboard’ with the decision the user needs to make.

Base pattern

Design a [screen] for [user] who needs to [task]. Include [content], [states], and [accessibility constraints].

Prompt patterns to adapt

Use these patterns as starting points rather than copying them unchanged.

  • Generate three onboarding flows for a first-time user.
  • Audit this interface for keyboard navigation and focus order.
  • Turn these requirements into a responsive component inventory.
  • Rewrite this empty state for a user who has no saved projects.
  • Create a design-token table for color, spacing, type, and radius.
  • Compare two navigation models for a content-heavy product.

Ask for states, not just the happy path

A usable interface includes loading, empty, error, permission, and success states. Request those states explicitly so the design discussion covers real product conditions.

State request

For each screen, include default, loading, empty, error, offline, and success states with a short explanation of the user action.
